This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.

The second season of Quantum Leap is set to premiere in October, and to get us excited for the occasion, NBC has not only released some first-look images, but announced two new series regulars as well.

The show will see the return of Raymond Lee, Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, and Nanrisa Lee, and joining their ranks are Eliza Taylor (The 100) and Peter Gadiot (Yellowjackets).

Taylor, who played Clarke Griffin on seven seasons of The 100, is joining Quantum Leap as a character named Heather Carson. We don’t know much about her character yet, other than that she is a “complex young woman who may be more than she appears” and that we’ll first see her in the upcoming season’s third episode.

Gadiot, who plays the ill-fated lover of Melanie Lynskey’s character on Yellowjackets, will be taking on the role of a U.S. Army officer named Tom Westfall. Westfall is formerly special forces and is now a bigwig in Army Intelligence and is described by NBC as “thoughtful, centered, a spiritual kind of warrior who both men and women admire, but whose humility keeps him from ever being arrogant.” Westfall will be taking on a “crucial role” in the time travel project in the upcoming episodes.

We also know three of the leaps for the second season. The season premiere, “This Took Too Long!” will bring us to Russia in 1978, while the fifth episode, “One Night in Koreatown,” takes us to 1992’s Los Angeles Riots. The eighth episode, “Nomad,” will bring us to Egypt in 1961, and was actually shot on location in Cairo.

Season two of Quantum Leap premieres on NBC at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on October 4, 2023. New episodes will drop weekly.
